Behind seven pallets and three shelves, in a forgotten corner of a large warehouse, stood an old forklift named Vilda. It had once had glorious days – it lifted heavy boxes, helped day and night, and everyone could rely on it.
But time passed, and when newer, faster forklifts with shiny plastics and quiet engines arrived, Vilda was no longer enough. Its paint was scratched, its wheels creaked, and its hydraulics yawned wearily every time it tried to lift something.
Everyone thought that nothing could be done with it anymore. But one day, a truck from a company called VIVA – handling equipment – arrived. In it sat three cheerful mechanics: Tomáš, Slava, and Michal, a young student who was studying with them.
“This forklift has a soul,” said Slava, looking at Vilda’s skeleton. “You just need to move it a little!”
They took Vilda to the workshop, where miracles began to happen. Tomáš replaced the bearings, Michal degreased it all and painted it with beautiful red varnish, and Sláva gave it a brand new engine.
After a few days, Vilda looked in the mirror (well, in the glass door of the workshop) and couldn’t believe his headlights. He was like new! His engine purred quietly, the wheels turned without a single creak, and his forks lifted proudly and strongly.
Since then, Vilda has been working again – although not as fast as the newest ones, she has a heart of steel and experience to share. And when someone asks who is the most reliable in the company, the answer is always the same:
“That’s Vilda – the one who got a second chance.”
