Several strict rules apply to the operation of motorized VZV on the road. Not everyone who uses such a handling technique knows about them or follows them. Detailed information can be found by the operator of motorized forklifts during training. In this short article, we summarize the most important and important points for this method of manipulation.
The crucial point is whether or not the "lizard" travels on the road. If we are not sure whether we will move along this type of road, it is advisable to look at the list of roads, where we will find out this information, or to contact the relevant road administration office.
In the event that this is only a purpose-built road with limited public access (see explanation below), different rules apply when handling a motorized forklift.
Citation from Act No. 13/1997 Coll. § 7 - Special-purpose communication
(1) A special-purpose road is a road that serves to connect individual properties for the needs of the owners of these properties or to connect these properties with other roads or to manage agricultural and forest land. At the request of the owner of a special-purpose road and after consultation with the Police of the Czech Republic, the relevant road administrative office of a municipal office with extended powers may modify or restrict public access to a special-purpose road if this is necessary to protect the legitimate interests of this owner. This does not affect the regulation or restriction of public access to special-purpose roads stipulated by special legal regulations21).
(2) A special-purpose road is also a road in an enclosed space or object, which serves the needs of the owner or operator of the enclosed space or object. This purpose-built road is not accessible to the public, but to the extent and in the manner determined by the owner or operator of the enclosed space or object. In case of doubt as to whether it is an enclosed space or an object from the point of view of the road, the relevant road administration authority decides.
Explanation of the concept of road:
A road is a traffic route intended for use by road and other vehicles and pedestrians, including the fixed equipment necessary to ensure this use and its safety. According to the law, the rules of road traffic apply only and only on roads. The exact wording and explanation can be found in Act No. 13/1997 Coll.
In the event that we move with the motorized VZV on the road, we are obliged to comply with the regulations and rules intended for operation in such a place.
Some basic rules that everyone who operates VZV on the road should know:
VZV should be equipped with full lighting and meet other design requirements.
VZV should have the lifting forks removed or covered when moving.
The operator of the motorized forklift truck must have a valid driver's license with the appropriate group according to the weight controlled by the VZV. (For trucks over 3500 kg, a driving license for group T, C1 or C is therefore required).
Engine VZV operators should be properly equipped with appropriate "PPE" protective equipment.
A forklift truck that moves on the road must have its own license plate (state license plate), TK (technical inspection) and a certificate of valid vehicle liability insurance.
The rules of the road apply to moving equipment on the road.
You will find out all the obligations and necessary requirements for operating motor vehicles in this mode during the training, from the health and safety consultant or at the road administration office.
